Grace Muriel House

About Us

Grace Muriel House
in St Albans is home to 37 older people. The house is purpose built and is maintained to a high standard of decor having had a major redevelopment and upgrade in October 2002, which included the addition of ten new rooms and the provision of 17 rooms with their own en-suite facilities.

The House is managed by a Board of unpaid Trustees, who delegate the day-to-day running and management to the Registered Manager.

Grace Muriel House is registered and has a twice yearly inspection from the Commission for Social Care. Our quality reports from these inspections are excellent.

The house is owned and managed by The Abbeyfield St Albans Society Ltd and is a member of the national Abbeyfield Society. The house was established over fifty years ago, to provide care for older people in non-institutional settings. The St. Albans Society was founded in 1960 and moved into the purpose-built Grace Muriel House, named after a major benefactor, in 1972. The Society operates within the Guiding Principles of its parent body, The Abbeyfield Society.
